Mechanical Stimulation by Surging is the process used to remove materials that are impeding the flow of water. Surging is when water is pumped into and out of a well using a plunger-type motion. This motion creates a constant change in the flow direction, allowing water to continuously move over, loosen, and wash away these materials.
Sometimes, the only way to rejuvenate a well is to deepen it. To do this, the well pump and liner casing must be removed. Then, the rig is mobilized to begin drilling the well deeper. Once a long-lasting water source is found, the casing and pump system will be reinstalled and the well will be operational again.
